Death Of Fr. Liam Holmes, Late St. Patrick’s College, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with sadness that we learned of the death, on Monday 11th May 2020, of Fr. Liam (Bill) Holmes, Tubber, Murroe Co. Limerick; Patrickswell, Co. Limerick; Knockainey, Co. Limerick; and late of St. Patrick’s College, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Predeceased by his parents Bridget and William and his sister Ann; Fr. Liam passed away peacefully while in the care of the staff at Milford Care Centre after a long illness.

Greatly supported throughout his illness by Archbishop Kieran, priests and religious colleagues in the Cashel & Emly Diocese and a wide circle of friends and former parishioner; his passing is most deeply regretted by his sister Teresa (her husband Pat O’Dea); his three brothers, PJ (his wife Mary), John (his wife Marie) and Tom (his wife Mary); nieces and nephews Mairéad, Ailín, Patricia, Tara, Marie, Sinéad, Éibhear, William and Tom; extended relatives and neighbours.

Requiescat in Pace.

Funeral Arrangements

In accordance with government guidelines with regard to the current Covid-19 pandemic and public gatherings; the funeral for Fr. Holmes will take place in a private, family only setting.
Fr. Liam’s cortège will arrive at St. Mary’s Church, Gorteennacreeagh, Knockainey, Co. Limerick at 1:30pm for 2:00pm Mass this afternoon, Thursday May 14th, (travelling via Hospital and Millfarm Co. Limerick).
Removal afterwards (travelling via Knockainey Sports field and Callaghan’s Cross) for interment at the Church of St. Patrick, Lough Gur Road, Patrickswell, Bruff, Co. Limerick.

The funeral Mass of Fr. Holmes will be streamed live, HERE, on the internet this afternoon.

A memorial Mass to celebrate the life of Fr. Holmes will take place at a later date.
