Covid-19 Update: Wed 22nd April 2020 – 49 Deaths – 631 New Cases

The Department of Health has confirmed this evening that a further 44 people have died from the Covid-19 virus, here in the Republic of Ireland. This confirmation brings the overall total number of deaths to-date to 769. [Note: Ten deaths, latter previously reported as associated with the virus are no longer classified as being related to the pandemic.]

A total of 631 new cases of the coronavirus have also today been identified here in the Republic. Bringing the total since conception to 16,671.

The total number of cases associated with community residential care settings is confirmed at 2,604, with 1,944 cases in nursing homes. In relation to deaths in these settings, a total of 412 people had died following a diagnosis of Covid-19; with 348 of those deaths occurred in nursing homes.

Here in Co. Tipperary the number of virus cases reported, as at midnight two days previously on the 20th April 2020, has been confirmed at 320, an increase of 14 new confirmed cases.
