Thurles Fire brigade were called out last night to attend a serious fire in a vacant building on Kickham Street, situated east of Thurles town.
The building, formally known as WK Wholesale Electrical, which has been vacant for a number of years, sustained severe damage, resulting in the partial collapse of the tiled roof structure.
Situated on the south east side of the entrance to the housing estates of Moonakeeba, College Green, Beechwood Grove and Beechwood Lawns; the blaze is understood to have occurred some time around 9.00pm.
While the cause of the fire is as yet unconfirmed; we understand that thankfully no one was injured in the blaze.
