Ely’s Centra Supermarket – People Before Profit

Ely’s Centra Supermarket, Petrol Station and Car Wash, Slievenamon Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

While the Tesco Supermarket chain were taking a 24 year old woman to court, accused of criminal damage to the value of €1.50 (Yes criminal damage to the value of one Euro and fifty cents), wasting your, the taxpayers, money, Ely’s Centra Supermarket, The Mall, Slievenamon Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary were putting real ‘people before profit’. [No connection whatsoever to that Socialist, and Eurosceptic political party formed in October 2005.]

The family run supermarket, who also have a Centra outlet on Kickham Street, Thurles, Co. Tipperary, together with a Petrol Station and Car Wash, on The Mall were publishing the following message on their Facebook page.

Dear Parents and Students,
Autumn is here and with it the dark wet evenings. Now with school back just to let you know – if your child can’t be picked up or missed their lift, let the children know that they can stay in the shop, safe and warm. If they want to ring you from the shop, from our phone, no problem. If they forget their lunch money, or are hungry in the evening while waiting, come and talk to us. Growing up is difficult enough for a lot of kids, so we’ll try to do our bit to make their lives easier.

It is not for the first time, that Pat Ely and his family have demonstrated such generosity, benevolence and humanity; gifting quietly and discreetly to the people of Thurles town.

 Thank you Ely’s Centra Supermarket.
