Yet Another Tipperary Road Fatality

GardaAn 18-year-old youth has died in a single vehicle collision at about 1.55am here in Co Tipperary this morning.

The teenager is understood to have been driving along the N62 Birr Road, a short distance outside of Roscrea, when this fatal accident occurred. It is understood that the vehicle being driven struck a wall.

The driver was pronounced dead at the accident scene and a sixteen year old male passenger, also travelling in this vehicle, was seriously injured and rushed to Limerick Regional hospital. Both young men are believed to be from the Roscrea area.

The  body of the deceased has also been removed to Limerick Regional Hospital, where a post mortem will be held and the road remains currently closed for a forensic examination with diversions having been put in place.

This now brings to twelve the number of people killed on Tipperary’s roads since January1st, the highest vehicle fatality rate of any county in Ireland.

Roscrea Gardaí are appealing for witnesses with information to contact them at Roscrea Garda Station, Tel: 0505 24230, or use the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111 or indeed any Garda Station.
