Gardaí in Thurles are now following a definite line of inquiry, following the discovery of a young man found lying on the roadway at Friar Street, Thurles, early this morning.
Alerted Thurles Gardaí were quickly on the scene at around 3.30 am, to find a young man lying on the roadway, having sustained what transpired to be serious head injuries.
Emergency services were quickly summoned and the man who appeared to be in his mid twenties, was immediately rushed by ambulance to South Tipperary General hospital.
It is now understood that the injured man has since been transferred to Cork Regional Hospital, where his condition is reported be serious yet stable.
Thurles Gardaí (Telephone 0504-25100) had been appealing for information from anyone who might have been in the Friar Street area in the early hours of Sunday morning.
