An 18-year-old Co Tipperary teenager was shot in the stomach in Templemore, in the early hours of this morning.
The boy was rushed to South Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel where his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Gardaí confirm that a 21-year-old was arrested a short time later and is being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Templemore Garda Station.
Patrick Street, Templemore is currently sealed off pending a forensic examination.
It is understood that the weapon used has not been, as yet, located.
