Paul Byrne is a Thurles local and lead singer of the up and coming band The Basics. Despite Paul’s relatively recent debut on the Irish music scene, his song writing talents have already received national attention.
In 2006, Paul’s demo “Observation” received Jackie Hayden’s coveted “Demo of the fortnight“.
In Hayden’s Hotpress review Paul was described as having a “voice packed with emotion” and a performer that “sounds like he’s lived the life that inspired his songs“.
The success of “Observation” resulted in frequent national radio airplay and a series of showcase gigs. Paul’s success to date is destined to continue. His debut album with The Basics, entitled Moving Ghosts, has captivated live audience in established Dublin music venues such as The Village, Eamon Doran’s and The Sugar Club.
